Visit to the BBC

BBC Visitweb

Second year students from the Level 3 BTEC in Media at Tresham have recently visited the BBC Headquarters in London to get a better understanding of working in the broadcast media, including television and radio.

The group visited Broadcasting House, the worldwide headquarters of the BBC in London where they were given an interactive tour with the chance to create their own radio drama, read from a script and create sound effects.

As part of the course students learn about the media industry and the recent visit was ideal to show the types of jobs available and the skills needed to pursue a career in television or radio.

The tour included a visit to the BBC Newsroom office, The One Show studio, BBC Radio studios and the weather studio where students enjoyed the chance to present the weather for that day. As a final stop the group found out more about the BBC’s history and the buildings unique features together with how media technology has evolved and getting news stories has changed.
