Vince Cable Secretary of State of Business, Innovation and Skills visits Silverstone UTC
Vince Cable Secretary of State of Business, Innovation and Skills visited Silverstone UTC today as part of his visit to Silverstone to discuss future development plans at the home of British motor racing.
After meeting with Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone both Richard and Vince Cable MP made their way across to the Silverstone UTC building. Upon arrival Vince Cable was met by Principal Neil Patterson, Elspeth Sully, Director of Technology, Innovation and Resources at Tresham College of Further and Higher Education and John Sinclair, Deputy Dean of Quality and Performance Management at Northampton University.
Neil then took the secretary of state through to one of the engineering workshops where he had the opportunity to take a look at the fantastic facilities that the Silverstone UTC has to offer. As well as taking the opportunity to see the great facilities Secretary of State, Vince Cable had the opportunity to speak to a few students who are studying High Performance Engineering to see what they thought about their brand new school.
The Silverstone UTC is one of this year’s flagship University Technical Colleges (UTC) which opened in September 2013 at the home of British Motorsport, Silverstone Circuit, providing high quality practical, technical education in high performance engineering and business and technical events management for 14 to 18 year olds. Tresham is the lead partner for the Silverstone UTC alongside The University of Northampton and Silverstone Circuits Ltd.
