Tresham Pledge Celebrates 1000 Apprenticeships

On Thursday 14th November representatives from companies across Northamptonshire joined their apprentices, Stuart Wesselby, Principal and Rachel Kay, Deputy Principal/ Managing Director of Tresham College of Further and Higher Education to celebrate the first anniversary of the Tresham Pledge and the recruitment of more than 1100 apprenticeships in the past 12 months.
In 2012 Evolve Business Training, Tresham’s employer responsive arm, launched the Tresham Pledge to increase the number of apprenticeships being offered across the whole of Northamptonshire highlighting the college’s commitment to providing as many learning opportunities as possible. At the glittering event Rachel Kay, Deputy Principal and Managing Director at Tresham announced that the college had exceeded all targets and celebrated a total of 1161 apprenticeships in industries including construction, engineering, business and administration, motorsport and hairdressing.
Representatives from Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough Borough Councils also attended together with Cllr Jim Harker OBE the Leader of Northamptonshire County Council to show their support for apprenticeship training in the county.
Rachel Kay, Managing Director at Tresham said:
“We are delighted with the response we have had from local and national employers and encouraged by the response from young people who want to train and sign up to an apprenticeship as a way to train for their dream job. A fantastic 1161 young people and adults have been able to begin their careers as an apprentice thanks to the commitment employers have made by signing the Tresham Pledge. I am looking forward to working with many more in the next 12 months!”
