Travel & Tourism Students Take a Trip
The second year Travel and Tourism students got a chance to put their knowledge and skills into practice on a recent trip to Barcelona.
The five-day trip formed part of the students’ level 3 qualification as they had to research and choose the destination, plan the daily itineraries, take part in the activities and evaluate the trips success and their own personal contribution.
A packed schedule saw the group take part in a ‘Hop on Hop off’ tour of the city, visit the Labyrinth Park and Sagrada Famíliar, take a Segway tour of Port Olympic, visit La Rambla for cultural shopping, take in a Flamenco show and enjoy a relaxing beach afternoon.
Travel and Tourism Tutor, Denise Newman, said:
“The learners thoroughly enjoyed the experience, learning about the Spanish culture and getting some much needed sunshine. They soon learnt how to navigate the public transport systems and we witnessed their confidence soar.”
Here’s what some of the students had to say:
“Barcelona was very interesting, the excursions were amazing and we watched an excellent Flamenco show.” – Francesca Lee
“Barcelona was a very unique experience; there was a wide variety of excursions to fulfil everyone’s needs for the trip and to give us a new cultural experience such as the Flamenco dancing in which I took part in on the stage!” – Harry Barnette
“The trip was fun and something new, I will definitely be going back. It was nice to spend time away as a group and I feel that it has brought us closer together.” – Etana SkeenBack to news
