Students Support Kettering’s New Look Market Place
A group of Tresham’s Graphic Design students have been working with Kettering Borough Council to develop a new brand for the towns market which has now been shortlisted for the Boosting High Street Vitality at the Regeneration and Renewal Awards 2012.
Judges visited Kettering’s market place on Friday 21st September where students from Tresham sold their photography and textile work. Students from the new music courses also performed for the public.
As part of their partnership, Tresham has also designed logos and banners to promote the three specialist markets that are held in the town (vintage/flea, general and producers’) and have now been placed around the market area and stalls.
Paul Thomas, town centre regeneration programme manager, said to the Northants Telegraph: “The market is starting to bring in more than it ever did. We involved Tresham College who helped rebrand the market and design stalls, and this is a good example all round of a great community and partnership effort.”
Maria Delves, Graphic Design Tutor at Tresham said:“Our students have really enjoyed getting involved in this project as many are local to the town and take pride in being able to work with Kettering Borough Council to develop a new and vibrant image for the town’s market place. We encourage our students to work on projects with local organisations to gain the experience of working with clients and creating work to the standard expected in the workplace.”Back to news
