Students commissioned to design for Kettering Borough Council
Year 1 students on the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Graphic Design were commissioned by Steven Edwards, Community Services Officer from Kettering Borough Council, to design a billboard and a poster to advertise and promote an urban beach volleyball tournament which will take place at Kettering’s Market Place this summer.
On March 1st, Steven briefed the students and discussed the main requirements of the brief which were as follows:
- To raise awareness of the tournament which if successful would become an annual event.
- Encourage volleyball teams to take part.
- Attract visitors to the event.
The students presented their initial ideas back to Steven on 27th March. Following feedback, they developed their designs for a final presentation which took place on 1st May. The designs were discussed at the council and a winning design was selected along with three runners-up.
Steven came to Tresham to present the awards on the 3rd May to the winning students. Steven said:
“It was an amazing experience working with so many talented students on this project. To find the final winner was a huge challenge as the standard of work produced was so high. I would like to thank the lecturers and all of the students for all their hard work and dedication they gave to this project.”
