‘Sparky’ is set for Chicago

07.03.2013

3650_lTresham Football Academy Student Tom Spark is all set to jet off to USA to take up a Coaching Role for Challenger Soccer.

Sports Coaching Degree and U21 Academy Player Tom Spark is about to embark on a fantastic journey as he takes up a role as an academy coach for Challenger Soccer in Chicago, USA.

Tom, who has completed his FA Level 1 and 2 qualifications at Tresham College of Further and Higher Education, has studied a degree in sports coaching alongside playing and showing himself as a very accomplished coach.

Despite potential playing opportunities here in the UK, Tom was keen to explore a career in coaching and whilst applying for a summer role out in the States, was identified by the sports provider as an individual who they needed to offer a larger role too.

Tom will be responsible for overseeing academy programmes in the Chicago area for players from the ages of just 2 up to 18 years old.

This news comes as no surprise to Tresham Football Academy Manager, Jonathan Heathcote, that Tom has been offered this role. He commented:
“Tom is an extremely promising coach who is liked by all age groups. He will use this excellent opportunity to further his coaching CV further and forge a really good career in Coaching for himself”

Jonathan went on to say “I’ve known Tom since he was 10 years old and he has been a shining example throughout. He has been a top player for us and has the potential to do well as a player, but I also recognise that his ability as a player and his experience will help him become a top coach and one who I’d happily recommend and give a job to if the opportunity ever arises.”

Tresham Academy of Sport wishes Tom the very best of luck. This story demonstrates the positive progression of a really good student and player.
