Money facts

Whether you pay for your course is dependent upon a number of factors.

Aged 16-18?

Students aged 16 – 18 before 31 August of the year they start their course do not pay any course or exam fees for the duration of their study programme.

Some courses do incur specific costs such as books, safety wear, special material and equipment and details of these will be provided at your information session.

Aged 19 or over?

Students aged 19 or over will be required to pay the tuition fees for each year of your course, together with exam and registration fees however exemptions do apply to some courses. We also offer an instalment payment service to help spread the cost of your course. More information can be found in our Fees and Funding section.

Aged 24+?

If you are over 24 years of age there will be a charge to study any of our full and part time courses unless it is stated that they are free of charge.  Fees vary between different courses.  Please contact our Customer Services Team for more information.

If you are over the age of 24 and looking to study a Level 3 or Level 4 course, you may be entitled to an Advanced Learning Loan. This will help you to pay for your tuition and you won’t need to pay back the loan until you are earning £21,000 or over per annum.

You can apply for the Advanced Learning Loan if:

  • You are aged 24 and above at the start of your course
  • You are studying for an approved Level 3 or Level 4 qualification
  • You are a UK resident and have been for at least 3 years
  • You have not previously had a loan to do the same type and level of qualification

Learning Support Fund

If you need financial support to help with the costs of coming to college, books, equipment, trips and childcare then the college operates a Learning Support Fund. This is a means-tested fund targeted at the most in need. Application forms can be found in the Learner Centres at each campus and our Customer Services team will be happy to provide advice and support with making your application.

You are encouraged to make an early application as the Learning Support Fund is a limited fund which will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
