Rugby Academy Launched with Northampton Saints

3714-tTresham’s brand new Rugby Academy is delighted to announce its partnership with Premiership team, Northampton Saints, to offer professional coaching to young rugby players aged 16-18 at the college’s Kettering campus from September 2014.

Tresham’s Rugby Academy will be led by Elite Player Development Group Manager, Ross Stewart and Northampton Saints coaches to provide young players with the professional training they require to pursue a career as a rugby player. Each player will also study for either a BTEC in Sport covering areas such as nutrition and sports psychology or relevant A Levels.

Daily training sessions will be held to develop young player’s game strategy and physiotherapists will be on hand to keep players at their physical peak.

Tresham’s Sports Academy competes within the national college leagues.

Introductory days for those interested in joining Tresham’s Rugby Academy will be held at the college’s Kettering campus on:

  • Saturday 17th May from 12-4pm
  • Saturday 7th June from 12-4pm

The Northampton Saints have used the college’s 3G Astroturf pitch for their training in recent years, including their preparation for the 2013 Aviva Premiership semi-final win over Saracens.

Ross Stewart, Elite player Development Group Manager said:

“Tresham has outstanding facilities and we will be able to deliver an exciting programme for young people wishing to combine playing rugby with their studies.

The course will give students the grounding and knowledge they need should they become a professional rugby player and a qualification that will stand them in good stead regardless of their future playing career.”

Tresham’s Rugby Academy is the fifth Sports Academy to be launched alongside Boxing, Golf, Football and Netball for young players to enrol on to for September 2014.
