Learners help with Christian Meeting Place Project

18.02.2014

Christian Meeting Place

Christian Meeting Place is a community centre based in Corby, the building is currently in a bad way and needs a lot of work to make it useable again.  Graham Morrison from The Christian Meeting Place got in contact with Tresham and suggested that construction students get involved with the regeneration of the building.

Learners from Level 2 Maintenance Operations have been working on the project and have been developing their skills in; Carpentry and Joinery, Plastering, Painting and Decorating and Electrical Installation.

If the learners continue to do a good job on the room that they are currently working on, then they will have the opportunity to work on further rooms within the building. This could result in the learners spending one day a week on site getting hands on practical experience.

Kyle Hall a learner from Level 2 Maintenance Operations said:

“It makes a nice change to get out of the workshops and do a real project. You learn a lot more when it’s for real”

Connor Ross also a learner at Tresham mentioned:

“It has given us the chance to work things out for ourselves and decide on the best way of tackling any problems.”

We will be returning to The Christian Meeting Place to record the progress as the project develops.
