ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) for International Students (19+)

Course outline

The programme combines General English with English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in an English-speaking environment with multi-national students.

The General English component provides language skills practice to develop vocabulary, grammar and communicative competence in addition to a focus on use of English, reading, writing and examination techniques to prepare students for City & Guilds ESOL examinations.

English for Academic Purposes has a focus on reading and writing skills for academic study; note-taking, summarising, technical/academic vocabulary and presentation skills.

Course details

  • 12 hours per week for 35 weeks
  • 6 hours General English and 6 hours English for Academic Purposes
  • Available at our Kettering campus

Entry requirements

  • Students must be aged 19 years and over
  • Level of English equivalent to IELTS (Academic) 4.0 – 6.5 / CEFR B1-B2
