HRH The Duke of Gloucester Opens Corby Campus
On Wednesday 17th October 2012, HRH The Duke of Gloucester (KG GVCO) officially opened Tresham College of Further and Higher Education’s new campus in Corby as the latest top quality educational building to open in the redeveloped town.
The new £36m campus opened in September 2011 students from the existing college sites in the town, which included a dilapidated campus in the town centre and industrial units, to move into the new single Corby campus, built on the site of the former Corby Community College which closed in 2008.
The building of the new campus has been supported by the Skills Funding Agency, Northamptonshire County Council and Corby Borough Council who have developed the Manor House which is used by the college for its catering and business training provision.
The new campus has strengthened Tresham’s reputation of providing high quality vocational courses and apprenticeships ensuring students are ready for the workplace when they complete their course.
Tresham’s Corby campus provides an enhanced IT provision, dedicated central learning pods for each curriculum area and a brand new 3G Astroturf pitch which is also available for public hire. The newly refurbished Manor House located within the college grounds offers a fully functioning restaurant as well as dedicated business training facilities for professional qualifications.
Principal, Stuart Wesselby said:
“The opening of our Corby campus is an important day for putting Tresham on the map for further and higher education and apprenticeship training. Our new campus has been developed to meet the needs of our students, employers and the local community.
I hope that our new building will show individuals and businesses across the UK that they can access high quality facilities and encourage more people to stay in education or consider returning to learning.”Back to news
