Graphic Design Student Success
After completing a National Diploma in Graphic Design at Tresham, Dale continued his development by enrolling onto the HND in Graphic Design with Illustration and graduated this summer.
Talking about his time studying at Tresham University Centre, Dale said:
“The HND course helped accelerate my design skills through a wide range of exciting and challenging projects, as well as trips and guest speakers. The course gave me some fantastic opportunities; such as working with live clients, entering competitions and the opportunity to work as part-time designer for a charity for a year. It has given me great knowledge to build upon and I am very grateful for the tutors offering such a high standard of teaching.”
The opportunity for Dale to put his skills to the test came when local company Runvisual (UK) Ltd, manufacturer and distributor of world globes for the home and for education, approached Tresham for assistance with recruiting for the new post of Creative Developer within their team.
Susan Eales, a Director at Runvisual (UK) Ltd, explains:
“As a company we like to employ young people and give them the opportunity to gain experience and develop their skills in a wide range of activities within a small team environment. For this new post in particular, it was important to recruit someone who was familiar with the latest web-based technologies and would bring some fresh ideas to the team. Dale has fitted in to the team very well and has already been able to move the company forward in a number of projects.”
Graphic Design tutor at Tresham, Maria Delves, said:
“Through Dale’s continued hard work and passion for the subject, he thrived on the course and produced a strong portfolio of work. The HNC/D Graphic Design with Illustration course provides students with the experience and core skills specifically required by the design industry, often working directly with designers and agencies on live projects.”
Dale’s employers will continue to support his development by adjusting his working hours so that he can complete a further one year’s study at Northampton University in order to gain a full honors degree in Graphic Design.
