Football Development Centre is through to Quarter Finals

On Wednesday 1st February Tresham Football Development Centre took on local rivals Huntingdonshire Regional College in the British Colleges Cup at home at Tresham’s Kettering campus.

With Huntingdon as National Elite Champions for two years running and the current Cup holders, it was a real test for the Tresham squad to pitch themselves against one of the best Football Development Programmes in the country right now.

After a nervous start, Tresham’s squad raised their game and frustrated Huntingdon with their discipline and organisation with Kettering Town's Oliver Jones leading the charge for Tresham.  Third year student, Carlos Lewis, put the home side ahead adding to belief in the home side and after Jones doubled their lead shortly before half time it gave the visitors an uphill battle in the 2nd half.

Ash Talbot in Tresham’s goal made several wonderful saves to preserve the two goal advantage and poor decision making in front of Huntingdon's goal, prevented the home side extending their lead further. The game finished 2-0 to Tresham Football Development Centre which signifies a fantastic achievement for the entire squad who now progress into the quarter finals of the cup.

This timely confidence boost will hopefully prove to be the catalyst for a strong finish to the league campaign which will see some difficult closing fixtures, but, the Cup is a welcome distraction for the whole squad and staff as well!
