Football Academy Graduate Strikes New Deal

07.02.2014

Dion Sembie-Ferris FDC graduate 2013

Former Tresham Football Academy star, Dion Sembie-Ferris has struck his latest deal at Colchester United FC following his success for the St Neots U18s side.

The teenage front man first came to the club’s attention after breaking into the St Neots Town first team last season, aged just 17.

Following a successful trial, Dion has now signed until the end of the season with the Colchester United U18s.

Colchester’s Academy Manager Tony Humes told the official website:
“Dion is a player we first saw in the summer. We monitored his progress and took him in to have a closer look. He came in on a six week trial with a view to seeing how he progressed. With the U18s aiming to replicate the first team’s philosophy of a 4-3-3 formation with attacking wide men, Dion has fitted the bill perfectly.”

He continued:
“He’s a winger who matches the system we’ve been playing and he fits into the player profile that we’ve been looking for. He is very hard working and quick and likes to take on defenders and has got decent quality at the end of it. I think we are looking at someone who can add a lot to our attacking side of the game and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

Dion said:

“Everything has gone amazingly well. All the managers are really impressed and I made my debut for the first team in the cup playing a full 90 minutes. A shock to the system but it was a great experience!”
