Experience Corby Team Congratulated at Parliament
On Thursday 28th November the first young people and employers who signed up to Experience Corby were congratulated at a presentation held at the Houses of Parliament, hosted by Andy Sawford MP for Corby and East Northants.
Experience Corby is an initiative that has been set up by Evolve Business Training and the Job Centre Plus and has been fully supported by Andy Sawford MP.
The project aims to match young people, who are seeking to get their foot on the ladder towards a career, with employers who can provide the vital work experience that is required in an ever increasingly competitive jobs market.
Following the first matching event which was held in August, ‘Experience Corby’ has opened the doors for a number of those who signed up, including Becky McKay from Corby who graduated from university in the summer and was finding it difficult to gain full time employment. Following a referral from the Job Centre Plus, Becky attended the matching event and was offered experience with Lockhart and Garrett who she impressed so much that they created a brand new full time role for her.
Other companies involved in the initiative include:
- Angle Plc
- Ford & Slater
- Echo Packaging
- Andy Sawford’s Constituency Office
- Ruby Mears
- Cambridge Manufacturing
Following the celebration event the group were given a tour around the Houses of Parliament and Westminster and sat in the public gallery during a live debate.
