Deputy Principal Goes ‘Back to the Floor’ for NAW2014
The Deputy Principal of Tresham got a chance to learn new skills as she went ‘back-to-the-floor’ in support of National Apprenticeship Week (3-7 March 2014).
Rachel Kay, who is also Managing Director for Evolve, the employer-responsive arm of Tresham, worked at S.C. Agency in Corby where Business Administration apprentice, Toni Mullen, showed her the ropes.
Toni, 19, from Corby, started her Apprenticeship at S.C Agency in June 2013 and undertakes administrative tasks for the strategic marketing and creative design agency.
Working closely with Rachel, who joined Tresham in August 2012, Toni was able to show off the skills that she has gained at the S. C Agency including web design, creative strategies, social media promotions and some of the administration activities she carries out for the team.
Speaking of the experience Rachel said: “National Apprenticeship Week is a great way to celebrate the success of apprentices and their employers and I’ve really enjoyed meeting with Toni and getting an insight into her daily duties and experience whilst learning with us.”
“I want to run my own business in the future and after studying my A Levels I didn’t want to go to university so felt that an Apprenticeship was the way forward.”
“I’ve been able to develop lots of skills including working with clients and it has been great learning and earning at the same time.”
“The best thing about studying an Apprenticeship with Evolve has been the learning on the job and being seen as an adult. In this type of business you have to be more mature and I have really enjoyed working one to one with clients. I have been trusted and able to work on social media and marketing, giving me the skills I will need in the future.”
Angela O’Donnel, Co-owner of S.C Agency, said:
“Toni is our first apprentice. She is very bright, methodical and can be trusted to get tasks completed quickly. She really complements the team and we include her in all of the team meetings. She is one of us and participates in the whole process.”
“Having Toni around has really opened up avenues for us here. She has taken the pressure from our designers and takes on her own work and completes it so quickly. We now have the time to build the business and bring more work into the company.”
“Toni is always willing and can be trusted to take on any project. She is very positive as a person and gets on with everything in a very timely manner. We would certainly take on an apprentice again without a question!”Back to news
