Construction and The Built Environment (Building Services Engineering) BTEC HNC

Why study this course?

This course has been designed to support higher-level progression for personnel with a building services engineering industry background. Experienced trade or craft people in the vocational areas of electrical and mechanical installation, electrical and mechanical design, estimating, supervision or management, building services engineering contracting, heating and ventilation or refrigeration will benefit from this programme. For those seeking supervisory or management roles, this course, a combination of core units and specialist pathway units, provides the higher-level skills and knowledge required to thrive in an ever changing and demanding industry.

What will I study?

During this course you will study the following Core units: Individual Project (Pearson-set), Construction Technology, Science and Materials, Construction Practice and Management. The following Specialist units: Mathematics for Construction, Principles of Heating System Design and Installation, Principles of Ventilation and Air-conditioning Design and Installation, and the following optional units of Principles of Public Health Engineering, Principles of electrical Design and Installation

What will I be able to do after I complete this course?

Progression is on to the Higher National Diploma in Construction and The Built Environment (Building Services Engineering). There are a diverse range of roles that successful graduates could progress in to. These include Building Services Engineering Technician, Electrical System Designer/Installer, Lighting System Designer/Installer, Heating/Cooling System Designer/Installer, Acoustics Designer/Installer and Site Engineering Technician.

How will I be assessed?

This is an assignment-based course, with Unit 1 Individual Project is set by Pearson, the remaining assignments being internally developed and administered.

Is there anything else I need to know when considering this course?

The 2-year course will include field visits, access to guest speakers and industry related / supported projects.
