This is a part-time City & Guilds qualification designed to give you the skills and knowledge in mens cutting, either to enhance your hairdressing skills or as a beginner.
This course will enhance your knowledge in providing high quality customer service, as well as experience of health and safety working in the hairdressing industry. You will be taught how to provide different cutting techniques including uniform layer, graduation, around the ear outline, with fade.

Course progression: To expand or advance your skills you could continue your studies in womens hairdressing or in barbering.
Career progression: Following the completion of the course you could work in a salon cutting mens hair or as a mobile stylist.
Following your practical training you will complete formative and summative assessments where you will have the opportunity to gain a pass, merit or distinction. Please be aware that you may need to provide models for your assessments. You will be taught theory knowledge including Health & Safety in the Salon which will involve online exams at the end of the units. The Level 2 Award in Customer Services qualification will be an intense course and will include a short answer written test. You will also be required to study at home during the course to improve your practical skills, as well as produce written assignments and complete exam revision.
You will be required to purchase a kit (prices available at interview).
Dress code is smart black trousers, plain black top (no logo) and closed in, low heel, black shoes. You will also need to buy a ring binder folder for theory notes and your portfolio of evidence.
A £45 fee for the Health & Safety qualification is required if you do not already hold a current (within 3 years) relevant Health & Safety qualification.
Pay by instalments
The College offers an instalment plan for Further Education and Higher Education courses to students where the total amount payable at the point of enrolment is £200 or more. Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course.
If you are aged 19 or over, in receipt of JSA Benefit, ERAG, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Income Support, low income Universal Credit (for the benefits previously listed - not Personal Independence Payments) and are unemployed, your course could be free of charge if it could help you to find work.
