Pre-Access to Higher Education

Why study this course?

The Pre-Access course is ideal if you would like to enter the Access to Higher Education course but haven't got the necessary GCSE grades. It is suited to adults who have been out of education for some time and who need to re-learn how to study at a higher level before progressing onto the intensive Access programme.

What will I study?

You will study Level 2 English and/or maths. You will study for up to 10 hours per week (2 days) depending on the subjects you require to progress onto the Access course. You will study NCFE Employability Skills and Mental Health Awareness courses to prepare you for your Access course. All students will also attend an Academic Skills Tutorial each week.

What will I be able to do after I complete this course?

This programme leads directly into the Access course. Areas available for study on this programme are Humanities, Health, Science and Social Sciences. Both the Pre-Access and Access courses are designed to lead to further university study.

How will I be assessed?

Course assessment is carried out through a variety of methods, including essays, projects, presentations and final exams.

Are there any additional costs?

Within the scheme there is an ability to pay up to 6 instalments, depending on the length of the courses and the final payment must be paid at least a month before the end of the course
