Why study this course?

This exciting course has been carefully tailored to prepare you for work in the professional industry. You will explore a wide range of alternative approaches to acting, as well as the naturalistic and classical acting styles, to develop as a well-rounded performer, building a portfolio of experience vital for auditions. At the end of this course you will leave with professional head shots, a voice over show reel, an actors show reel, an actors CV and knowledge of how to acquire an agent.

Throughout the course there are lots of opportunities to see live
performances and to work with industry professionals on projects,
gaining experience and employment connections.

Our lecturers have trained in a wide range of disciplines, including
Performing Arts, Musical Theatre, Professional Acting, Drama and
Psychology. They have worked as professional performers for stage
and screen and also have experience of costume design, running
arts companies and writing and directing plays.

What will I study?

You will develop your acting skills through various styles, working in our
state-of-the-art TV studio and vocal recording studios and exploring
practitioners such as: Alexander, Feldenkrais, Linklater, Fitzmaurice,
Uta Hagen, Grotowski, Katie Mitchell and Frantic Assembly.
Our modular structure allows you to tailor the course to suit your career
aspirations by combining musical theatre, dance, singing and acting for
camera units alongside the core programme.
Working as a company you will prepare for public performances, both
in the classic theatre setting but also in site-specific locations, including
the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

What will I be able to do after I complete this course?

On completion of the HND you will be prepared for a number of different
pathways including auditioning for professional work, further study through
a top-up to a BA (Hons) degree, or further courses at drama school.

How will I be assessed?

Assessments vary from performances, presentations, essays,
workshops and blogs. The course is 80% performance/practical
and 20% theory.

Are there any additional costs?

Approx £400 to cover props, clothing, play scripts, books, printing costs and trips/visits.

Is there anything else I need to know when considering this course?

For students studying on a full time basis, you will be required to attend taught sessions on at least three days a week, with a minimum of 15 hours contact time with your lecturers. You will be self-motivated and will have an independent rehearsal schedule and study time built into your individualised weekly schedule.

Full time applications must be made via www.UCAS.com, the UCAS code for this course is PA01 for the 1 year HNC and 5W29 for the 2 year HND. Part time applications can be made directly to Tresham College.

Please note that all students who wish to apply for this course who are non-native English speakers, or have not studied the final two years of school/college in English, must demonstrate capability in English to a standard commensurate to:
-IELTS 5.5, with a minimum of 5.0 being awarded on individual sections
-PTE Academic score of 42 to 49.
