Fashion & Textiles HNC/HND

Why study this course?

This highly creative Fashion & Textiles HNC course will equip you for a successful career within the fast-paced fashion or textile industry. You will develop a broad range of practical and technical skills in areas such as pattern cutting, draping and production as well as fashion, fashion design, research, illustration, technical drawings, computer aided design, fashion trends and forecasting. In addition to fashion specific skills, you will explore textile techniques and processes such as digital and screen printing, heat transfer printing and laser cutting. You will have the opportunity to participate in live competition briefs and build a creative, professional portfolio that can be used for job interviews or further study.

What will I study?

During this course you will study the following compulsory units: professional development; contextual studies; techniques and processes for fashion and textiles; computer aided design (CAD); fashion and textiles practices; pattern cutting; garment making; fashion and textiles collection; and surface design.

What will I be able to do after I complete this course?

Successful completion of the HNC will allow you to progress on to our bespoke Fashion HND or on to Textiles HND pathways.

Successful completion of a HND will allow you the opportunity to progress on to the Fashion and Textiles BA (Hons) Top-Up offered by The Bedford College Group in partnership with the University of Northampton.

How will I be assessed?

Project briefs will be set for each assignment. Assessment is continuous throughout the course

Are there any additional costs?

Full time applications must be made via, the UCAS code for this course is FT01 for the 1 year HNC, W582 for the 1 year HND.

Please note that all students who wish to apply for this course who are non-native English speakers, or have not studied the final two years of school/college in English, must demonstrate capability in English to a standard commensurate to:
-IELTS 5.5, with a minimum of 5.0 being awarded on individual sections
-PTE Academic score of 42 to 49.
