Level 3 Cambridge Technicals in Applied Science have been developed to meet the changing needs of the sector, and prepare students for the challenges theyll face in Higher Education or employment. The food and drink sector is the UKs largest manufacturing sector. It accounts for 15% of the UKs total manufacturing sector by value. Its the fourth largest food and drink manufacturing industry in the world and it employs 440,000 people directly in the UK, and as many as 1.2 million in related food services.
You will study a mandatory set of units which apply to every field of science in year one. Generic units include, but are not limited to: Science Fundamentals; Laboratory/Techniques; Scientific Analysis and Reporting; Control of Hazards in the Laboratory; Human Physiology; Human Nutrition and Genetics. Food Science specialist modules include: Testing Consumer Products; Food Technology/Science; Crop Production and Soil Science and Microbiology.
This Level 3 qualification can help you find employment, or give you the UCAS points needed for higher education study. You could also progress on to our HNC Applied Biology course at our Kettering Campus.
You will have a mixture of formal examinations and course work. Approximately 20% Examinations and 80% is coursework.
