Information and Creative Technology (Level 2)

Why study this course?

Suited to people who want a career in creative IT this course will help you towards a career as a computer technician, in programming, games design or website development and maintenance. You will also be building a web based portfolio to showcase all of your coursework to prospective employers.

What will I study?

You will study a range of topics including: the online world; digital portfolio; technology systems; creating digital graphics; computing in the workplace; website development; spreadsheet development; computational thinking; installing and maintaining hardware; multimedia products development; the online world and installing and maintaining software.

What will I be able to do after I complete this course?

You can progress on to an apprenticeship or go on to our Level 3 Computer Science study programme which allow you to specialise in Software Development, Hardware or Interactive Media.

Are there any additional costs?

You will need a memory stick for saving your work, stationery and a folder The recommended textbook costs around £20.

What qualifications will I gain?

• Information & Creative Technology BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate with Functional Skills AND • English and maths qualifications if required
