This exciting course introduces you to new ideas about design, photography, illustration, design software and traditional drawing and printing skills. You will create an individual portfolio of work that will help you to progress to a Level 3 study programme.
You will study a range of core and optional units that develop skills in design, page layout, photography, illustration and typography. You will have time in the new Apple Mac suites to develop your creative digital skills. You will learn how to use design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Graphic Design is not only using computers; a full range of drawing and image making techniques are key parts of this creative course.
This study programme will prepare you for progression on to the Level 3 study programmes in Graphic Design, Photography, Fashion, Media or Art & Design.
Continuous assessment takes place throughout the course.
• Drawing materials (drawing pads, sketchbooks, pens, pencils, fabrics etc.)
• Two trips per year approx. £15 per trip
Entry is subject to a successful interview. You must bring a portfolio which shows examples of your art, design or media work, which should demonstrate an enthusiasm for the subject. We are looking for potential and interest - not a perfect portfolio yet.
