An apprenticeship is a great way to earn while you learn, working as part of a race team. You will be travelling extensively with a race team and working hands-on in the pit lane, gaining practical experience in all aspects of motorsport.
You will gain experience of stripping and rebuilding a motorsport vehicle, and inspecting motorsport vehicles during events.
You can progress onto the Race Technician Advanced apprenticeship.
An assessor will visit your workplace periodically to observe you at work and to assess evidence of work that you have already completed.
If you are aged 16-18 years old on 31 August 2020, a British or European Union resident, live in England and looking to study at Level 2 and Level 3, the tuition fees and any exam registration fees are FREE.
If you are aged 19 years or older 31 August 2020, a British or European Union resident, live in England and looking to study a full-time Level 2 qualification, the tuition fees and any exam registration fees will be FREE. (Please note: there are some postcode exemptions for funding our Student Recruitment Team will be able to confirm this). For level 3 qualifications, you will need to pay full tuition fees (or apply for an advanced learner loan if you reside in England and are eligible).
All students will have to purchase uniforms at an approximate cost of £300 (subject to change).
The job of a race technician requires 100% dedication, and involves a lot of travelling and long work hours.
