Graphic Design (Level 3)

Why study this course?

This is the ideal course if you are interested in a career in design. A particular feature is the live external client work that links your learning with real design commissions from local and national clients. You will also meet visiting professional designers who will show you their work and advise on how to get started in your career in the creative industries.

What will I study?

There is a strong emphasis on employment skills on this study programme, including client liaison from initial briefing meetings to final client presentations. Traditional skills such as drawing and illustration are balanced with training in the Adobe Creative Suite. Areas covered include: publishing, photography, packaging, animation, print making, illustration and mixed media.

What will I be able to do after I complete this course?

This Level 3 qualification can help you find employment, or give you the UCAS points needed for university. It will prepare you for undergraduate study, including the degree-level Graphic Design courses available at Tresham and Bedford College.

During your two years with us you will generate a high quality portfolio of work to support your university application.

Are there any additional costs?

• Drawing materials (drawing pads, sketchbooks, pens, pencils etc.)
• Two trips per year approx. £15 per trip

Is there anything else I need to know when considering this course?

Entry is subject to a successful interview.

You must bring a portfolio which shows examples of your art, design or media work which should demonstrate an aptitude for the subject.

What qualifications will I gain?

• Art & Design UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma AND • English and maths qualifications if required
