Our Applied Sciences programmes are ideal for students with a keen interest in science, who enjoy solving problems and investigating solutions to complex questions. Our study programmes offer the opportunity to specialise in either Analytical Forensics or Biomedical Science. If you are not quite ready to study at Level 3 then our Level 2 in Applied Science and Technology is a great way to get started on your career path. Successful students from these study programmes progress on to undergraduate study, training or employment in science related careers.
The study programme is both classroom and laboratory based and focuses on applied biology, chemistry, physics and maths covering a broad range of topics in different units. In the first year you will complete a set of mandatory units in principles of science, practical scientific techniques, science investigation skills, laboratory techniques and contemporary issues in science. In your second year you will specialise in biomedical science units studying a range of specialist modules. You will also continue to study and enhance your English and maths skills and complete a period of work experience.
This Level 3 qualification can help you find employment, or give you the UCAS points needed for higher education study. You could also progress on to our HNC Applied Biology course at our Kettering Campus.
You will be able to progress onto university or go straight into employment.
