This course encourages students to take a multi-disciplined approach to media production. Students will learn the skills required to succeed in an increasingly multi-platform sector. Students will have opportunities to participate in practical media production work and to engage and network with professionals from the media production and journalism sector.
In year one,you will study the following units: Creative Media Industry, Professional Practice, Journalism Practices, Journalism and Society, Digital Page Production, Radio Production and Film Editing.
In year two, you will study: Personal Professional Development, Advanced Journalism Studies, Multi Camera Production, Specialist Journalism, Scriptwriting for Film and TV and Social Media Practice.
Following the HND you will be able to complete a final 'Top-Up' year at university to gain the full honours Degree. Career options include a range of roles in TV and radio broadcasting, digital media, marketing, PR and publishing.
Work is assessed through essays, presentations and project work.
Students are advised to purchase a suitable size hard drive (1Tb minimum) for the storage of AV work. Trips will be arranged to support the delivery of units. A residential trip will be planned for a location shoot during the first two years of the course. Additional trips are usually priced at approximately £20 per trip to cover transport costs.
