BTEC Business Students take on the Bakeaway Challenge
Tresham BTEC business students were given a live project brief from Bakeaway, a Corby based food manufacturing company as part of their work for Creative Product Promotion.
The students were asked to produce a product against a set of guidelines from a brief, which included:
-Develop a product that is part of the regular UK diet
-The product must be prepared and cooked in under 30 minutes
-It should retail at £1.50 or less
-The product has to appeal to the UK market
-It must be presented in a shelf ready packaging
-The product must be presented raw and cooked
-The product should be benchmarked against its nearest competition
The students were then given time to create a product in line with the brief. Once completed the work was then presented to a panel of invited guests and the winner ‘’Shortbread Shorties” were chosen by Bakeaway.
Tresham have used this format for the past five years, with Bakeaway working with the college for the past two years. Tutors believe that working with real life employers,in a real life task will help to add to their BTEC business experience. Students feedback revealed that they enjoyed rising to the challenge of the task.Back to news
