An Evening with Lee Stafford

On Tuesday 3rd May award winning celebrity hairdresser, Lee Stafford, inspired students, local salon owners and stylists at an exclusive ‘Evening with Lee Stafford’ at Tresham College’s Kettering campus, where he demonstrated a number of his impressive cutting edge techniques and methodologies.

Earlier this year, Tresham College of Further and Higher Education launched the new and exciting partnership with Lee Stafford Education alongside the hairdressing team. The partnership has been developed by Lee and his team of industry experts to provide training for school leavers and adults in the latest haircuts and styles, known as ‘recipes’, ready for the
workplace from September 2016. The college will be the first in Northamptonshire, and one of only five across the country, to be able to offer the most up to date training in this ever changing industry.

During his interactive show, the audience of more than 150 students and stylists asked a variety of questions about the techniques and found out more about the college’s latest venture, which will help new hairdressers in the industry and benefit apprentices.

Lee demonstrated his take on the ‘Disconnected Cut’ on models selected from the college’s Performing Arts department before moving on to reveal the ‘Twisted Tong’, both part of his unique ‘recipes’ to get the perfect salon curls.

After visiting the college, Lee Stafford commented:

“I am extremely excited to be partnering Lee Stafford Education with Tresham.

Developing the skills and attitudes of young people is key to them becoming successful stylists.  I am very encouraged by the response from local salon owners and believe that by working together we can create an outstanding collaborative model.”

David Higham, Vice Principal at Tresham College of Further and Higher Education opened the show by highlighting the fantastic opportunities the partnership brings to local salons through apprenticeship training and work experience. He said:
“Having Lee come to our college and demonstrate his techniques is an inspiration to our staff, students and potential salon partners. It is important for us, as a college, to provide the best learning experience we can for each student and work alongside industry experts such as Lee to develop and provide the training within inspiring environments so business owners can be confident that our students progressing into the workplace will be work ready.”

The audience left motivated and interested in finding out more about the new training available to local hairdressers and ready to offer apprenticeships with others tweeting their selfies with Lee.

Tresham’s hairdressing team will complete an intensive three week training boot camp over the summer to master the techniques and ‘recipes’ used by the Lee Stafford Academy to pass on their knowledge to students in September.
