Adult Learners Progressing to University Celebrate their Success
Adult learners at Tresham were congratulated for their hard work and determination to succeed at an awards ceremony for 130 students who completed the Access to Higher Education programme this summer. The award ceremony took place at the college's Windmill Avenue campus, Kettering on Thursday 6th September 2012.
The Access to Higher Education programme offered at Tresham has been specially designed for adults who lack the formal qualifications necessary to study at a higher level, or those who have been out of education for some time and want to return to learning.
The course provides the opportunity for groups that are typically under represented in Higher Education providing flexible teaching in a supportive environment, and timetabled so that people with school-age children can attend (running between 9.30am and 3pm).
130 students have successfully completed the Access course at Tresham this year, and will receive awards of achievement before starting university course or employment later this month.
Students are now going on to study a range of degrees including: Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, History, Criminology, Primary Teaching Human Bioscience and Media at Universities including the University of Northampton, De Montfort, Manchester Metropolitan, Brighton, Liverpool John Moore, Cardiff, Goldsmiths and Birmingham.Back to news
