How does the xl programme work?
xl operates as a club during the last two years of compulsory schooling. With between 12 and 15 students, xl club members meet for around 3 hours per week. It is student-led, but guided and encouraged by an xl club Adviser who is chosen by the school for their strong teamwork and group facilitation skills. xl club members are encouraged to take responsibility for running and planning activities that will make up the xl club programme.
Over the two year period (Year 10 and 11), xl club members develop competencies and skills through a challenging mix of activities and learn to improve their skills in the following areas:
- Personal, interpersonal and team work
- Citizenship and community awareness
- Entrepreneurship and enterprise
- Preparation for the world of work and training
