Marie Taylor is the course leader for the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Fashion and Textiles (year one). Marie was previously employed as a full-time designer for Cresswell Lighting before she came to Tresham. She also worked as a lighting designer working on domestic lighting for both UK and international retailers including Next, Marks & Spencers, Laura Ashley, and BHS.
Amongst her professional projects, Marie counts being exhibited at the New Designers Exhibition in Islington, London which lead to work published in interior publications and selling her own one-off tableware via commissions. Marie has been involved with the set up on an out of London showroom of all the lighting range stocked by Marks & Spencers when she worked for them as a lighting designer.
In regards to teaching, Marie enjoys showing learners new processes and skills that can devlop their skills for working in a professional environment. She is also involved in setting up ‘live’ projects with clients outside of Tresham. Marie says, “Tresham’s charity Fashion Show is also an event that I enjoy being involved in, developing our learners’ skill base and impacting on the local community.”
