A Levels
We offer a great range of subjects at A Level which can be combined in a variety of ways to create your own personalised study programme.
A Level Programme
A full A Level is achieved by completing both AS Level and A2 Level. AS Levels are studied over one year and are qualifications in their own right. A2 Level is taken in year two and cannot be studied without achievement of at least grade D at AS Level. You can select up to four AS Level subjects. In year two most A Level learners select three of their AS Level subjects to study to A2 Level subject to demand. The amount of class time given to each of your subjects may vary. We will work with you to identify a programme that meets your individual needs.
Entry Requirements
- For 3 AS Levels: A minimum of 5 GCSEs at A*-C including English and Maths or equivalent.
- For 4 AS Levels: A minimum of 6 GCSEs at A*-C including English and Maths or equivalent.
Some AS Levels have additional specific GCSE requirements such as a B in English, Maths and Science. Entry is subject to a successful interview.
A Level Success
The high level of support we provide for learners leads to their success. Our pass rates are consistently in line with the national average at 96% and a high proportion of our learners achieve grades A - C.
Progression Opportunities
Consistently over 80% of learners who complete an A Level programme at The Rutland College and apply for Higher Education gain a place. Learners gain places at a number of different universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Leicester, Loughborough, De Montfort, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Bristol, East Anglia and Huddersfield.
