Tresham College of Further and Higher Education's Skills for Life learners in Corby were awarded with certificates at a special ceremony by guest of honour, Phil Hope MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire on Friday 12th February 2010.

Up to 20 learners who have been referred to Tresham from Job Centre Plus, Probation Services as well as individuals who have recognised the need to improve their basic numeracy and literacy skills were recognised for their achievements over the past year.

Learners presented with their certificates have achieved qualifications in Adult Literacy, Numeracy and Asdan Employability Skills at Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2.

Tresham offers learning support to full and part time learners through a dedicated learning support team who provide a range of services to ensure that individuals get the most out of their studies and include learner support assistants, communication support workers, specialist equipment, one to one tutorials, extended teaching and learning time as well as other methods to ensure that individuals can have a quality learning experience and achieve more.

Maggie Heffernan, Head of School for Skills for Life said:

"Well done to all of our learners who have achieved, for some of them, their first ever qualification. It is important to recognise that many of the learners that were presented with their certificates at this ceremony took a huge step by returning to learning and I am extremely proud that they have all achieved their goals."
