Tresham Football Development Centre has won East Midland's division of the British Colleges Elite League for the second year in a row and will now progress to play in the national stage of the elite competition.
Tresham overcame their competition including Manor Sports College, Milton Keynes and North Herts College to take the league title and secure their place in the national quarter final stage.
Paul Curtis, Senior Coach at Tresham's Football Development Centre said:
"This win is a result of a brilliant effort by all concerned to emulate the achievement of last year's squad. The players have been fantastic throughout the year and have worked hard even when things weren't always going our way which is all we ask in both lessons and on the training pitch."
Jonathan Heathcote, Head Coach at Tresham's Football Development Centre said:
"At the Football Development Centre we aim to give all our players the opportunity to develop their technical and tactical ability, but the winning mentality that the group has taken on is due to the players drive and high standards as individual s and a team.
We now hope to continue our form into the national stages"
Third year student and Squad Captain Carlos Lewis has played an instrumental role in this years campaign and has the benefit of being part of last years winning side as well.
"To win the league for a second year is great and the new players who came in this year have been excellent in helping us defend our crown. We really want to go a stage further this year as losing to Truro last year in the semi final wasn't a good feeling!"
Tresham will play in the quarter finals on the 28th March 2012 and will find out shortly who they will face as the draw is made on Friday 23rd March.
