The National College for Motorsport
The National College for Motorsport, a school within Tresham College offers race technician training to meet the demands of the motorsport sector through practical programmes delivered from our purpose built facility at Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire.
The National College for Motorsport was the first college in the UK to achieve the coveted Motorsport Academy Employer Recognition Scheme Charter Mark for its training of race mechanics. The scheme was introduced in 2007 to ensure that motorsport training providers deliver good quality, motorsport industry relevant training.
By studying with the National College for Motorsport, not only will you be based at the home of British motorsport, but you will also get the opportunity to attend tests and races with the college and our motorsport partners and prepare a range of race cars.
Due to our excellent links within the motorsport industry the National College for Motorsport has tremendous progression opportunities, with high percentages of our learners progressing into Employer Led Race Technician Apprenticeships.
Our courses have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the motorsport industry.
ACCOMMODATION AND TRAVEL
NC4M Learners make their own arrangements for transport and accommodation. Many stay in local Bed and Breakfasts or share rented accommodation. Prices vary but most are in the £50 - £60 per week category for a two night stay.
There is a regular bus service from Northampton to Brackley which stops at Silverstone village. The NC4M is approximately 20 minutes walk.
COSTS
To pay for the NC4M clothing and enrichment activities, all learners pay £500. There is an additional fee of £1500 for learners who are aged 19 and over when the course starts as a contribution to tuition and exam fees as the government only partially funds adult learners.
Some learners may qualify for a bursary to help fund these costs. Information on this is available from Tresham's Learner Services department.
