Fees for Part Time Courses
Before you enrol please read the following information and check to see whether you are entitled to any concessions.
Full Fee
This is the fee you will pay if you are not eligible for a concession or where concessions do not apply. It covers the tuition fees for the duration as indicated, material costs and exam fees where applicable. It also includes the College Registration Fee of £30. The College Registration Fee is only payable once irrespective of the number of courses you study during 2010-11.
Concession
This is the fee you will pay if you are eligible for a fee concession, see concessions section for details. You will still be required to pay exam fees as shown, any materials costs and the College Registration Fee of £30.
Adult Learners Entitlement L2/L3
If the course you are interested in is marked or you may be entitled to pay the concession fee listed. See the concessions section for details.
Paying by Instalments
You may pay by instalments if you are taking a full year course and the tuition fee is £350 or above. One third of the fee is due at registration, with the balance being paid in up to five instalments by monthly standing order. Failure to pay the instalments by the due dates may result in legal action to recover all outstanding amounts.
Examinations
Courses leading to a qualification which are subsidised by the Skills Funding Agency require learners to take a final assessment/examination. Learners who do not wish to take such an assessment/examination will not benefit from this subsidy and will have to pay the full tuition cost. All exam re-sits, with the exception of Skills for Life, will incur the re-sit charge at the full rate determined by the appropriate awarding body plus an administration fee of £10.
Refunds
It is general college policy not to give refunds except when a course is cancelled.
Employer Sponsored Learners
If the fees are to be paid by your employer, you must enrol in person with a letter of authorisation from your employer. Concessions do not apply.
Learners Under 16 years
Learners under 16 who would like to join a part time course will need written permission from their school. The full fee as listed will be payable on enrolment. Concessions do not apply.
Apprenticeships
The fees listed in this guide do not apply to learners in this scheme. Please contact Tresham Business Solutions on 01536 419570 for more information.
International Learners
The fees listed in this guide are for home learners only. Learners who are not settled EEA nationals and wish to be treated as home learners should provide evidence of their eligibility. Such evidence might be:
- Proof of indefinite leave to enter or remain in the
- EEA or Right of Abode in the EEA. This will usually be passport stamps.
- Recognised refugee status
- Proof of receipt of public benefit from those seeking asylum.
If you feel there are other relevant circumstances, please ask. All other International learners will be charged at a rate of £15 per hour.
Concessions
16-18 year olds
If you are aged between 16 and 18 you will not have to pay any tuition fees but you may be expected to contribute towards materials costs and visits.
Adult Learners Entitlement L2/L3
If the course you are interested in is marked or you may be entitled to pay the concession fee listed if:
- Level 2: you are aged 19 or over and do not already have a full Level 2 qualification (eg: 5 GCSEs grades A-C, an NVQ 2 or equivalent)
- Level 3 L3 : you are aged under 25 at the start of your course and do not already have a full Level 3 qualification (eg: 2 or more A Levels, an NVQ 3, a BTEC National Diploma or equivalent), or you are aged over 25 and do not already have a full Level 2 qualification (eg: 5 GCSEs grades A-C, an NVQ 2 or equivalent)
Benefits
If you are in receipt of the benefits listed below, or the unwaged dependant of someone in receipt of the benefits listed below and living at the same address, you will be entitled to pay the concession fee listed. To claim concession you will need to enrol in person and have your proof of benefit with you.
- Council Tax Benefit
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Housing Benefit
- Income Support
- Jobseeker's Allowance
- Pensions Credit - Learners in receipt of the Guaranteed Credit
- Working Tax Credit (household income less than £15,276)
Skills for Life Courses
Skills for Life courses, other than ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), are free of charge so you will not have to pay any fees. If you take other courses however, fees will be payable.
