Hospitality and Catering
The Faculty of Catering and Hospitality offers an extensive range of full and part time courses, allowing you to specialise in your desired field. Based at Corby, the Faculty provides excellent facilities and a professional environment in which to enhance your skills.

The Faculty of Catering and Hospitality offers a wide range of courses at Levels 1, 2 and 3 which can be taken as part of full and part time study. The courses offered are designed to give you the practical experience required in order for you to gain employment in the fields of food preparation and cooking, serving food and drink and hospitality supervision. Short courses are offered for those wishing to gain the National Certificate for Door Supervisors or the National Certificate for Licence Holders. Day courses in Food Safety and Hygiene are available across our campuses.
Facilities
Catering is based at the Corby campus, home of the Define Restaurant and Bistro. Learners develop their skills in the four specialist commercial kitchens which include bakery and pastry, larder, a main production kitchen and a smaller diner kitchen. Service skills are developed in the fully licensed Define Restaurant and Bistro open to the public for lunches and for three-course dinners on Thursday evenings. Learners also have the opportunity to participate in regional and national competitions and gain work experience at prestigious outdoor events such as Royal Ascot.
Full time courses are offered at our Corby campus in Catering and Hospitality Supervisory Skills. Courses are offered at three levels and, providing you achieve the required results, you will be able to progress to through the levels.
Part time courses are offered in Food Preparation and Cooking, Patisserie and Confectionery, Restaurant Supervision as well as a range of short courses. Based at our campus in Corby, the Define restaurant, bar and diner, together with the working kitchens provide a practical and realistic settings for our part time Catering programmes. We also offer the BIIAB National Certificate for Door Supervisors and for Personal Licence Holders, both of which are required by law.
The Apprenticeship in Catering is the ideal way to earn a recognised qualification (the NVQ 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking) whilst working full time in Catering. The required attendance is one day per week at our Corby campus.
