The Diploma - Bringing Learning to Life
The Diploma is a new and exciting course that is offered as an alternative to A Levels and Apprenticeships. Tresham is offering Diplomas in Engineering , Information Technology and Creative and Media for 2009/10. We are also currently working with local schools to provide Diplomas at Levels 1 and 2 to 14-16 year-olds.
The Diploma differs from other courses as you will gain practical experience in your chosen subject area and learn about a particular job alongside classroom-based learning. You will benefit from hands-on experience which will prepare you for employment in your chosen field, although diplomas can also lead on to higher level study such as degrees and HNCs.
Each Diploma Combines:
- Principal Learning - This focuses on developing the knowledge that are needed for your chosen subject with an emphasis on learning by doing and understanding the theory behind the practice.
- Generic Learning - This is the same for all Diplomas. It will help learners gain a good standard in functional English, maths and ICT skills.
- Additional and Specialist Learning - This allows you the choice of qualifications to study as part of your Diploma. It could include an A Level or a BTEC and could be related to your main subject or reflect other interests.
You will also complete 10 days' work experience.
