Entry Requirements
You will need to purchase chef's whites and suitable safety shoes (not trainers), a knife set (approx £60), text books, stationery (files, pens, highlighter pens, paper, plastic wallets etc.), oven cloths & tea-towels.
Content
Areas covered include Personal Hygiene, Team Work, Food Health & Safety, Preparing & Cooking of Meat, Poultry, Fish, Vegetables, Soups, Sauces, Pastry Items and Dough Products.
Assessment
By continual on-going practical assessment throughout the course when in college and in the workplace. Theory is assessed by end of unit short answer written tests that are set by the awarding body. Both practical assessments and written tests need to be completed for each unit before it is put forward for verification.
Progression
Students can progress onto NVQ L3 in Pastry, Food Prep & Cooking or Restaurant Supervisors in either full or part-time study.Application Form
