Students will develop their skills in the Define hairdressing salon in a realistic working environment to include Cutting; Shampooing; Styling long hair and short hair; Colouring; Client Consultation; Reception and Health and Safety and perming techniques.The course is built up of equal parts of both practical and theory and requires the learner to research and develop their own learning. Theory sessions will provide essential knowledge required. IT facilities are available for use in the hairdressing study rooms and in the Learning Resource Centre. 5 hours of home study per week is the minimum requirement to ensure all course work is completed.A high level of personal hygiene is necessary .Also professional personal presentation should include a minimum amount of jewellery and visible Tattoos. All facial piercings will have to be removed in the salon. Individual student progression opportunities will require models to demonstrate their hairdressing skills and learners will be expected to generate some of their own clients, please note that not all assessments can be gained on the same clients. Working to our salon rules and health and safety regulations is essential. Students are expected to show professional behaviour at all times and all mobile phones are to be switched off while studying.100% Attendance is required to complete the course and all attendance is monitored by course tutors A detailed uniform equipment lists and prices are available.
Entry Requirements:
* 4 of GCSEs or equivalent to include English and preferably Maths and Science.* An NVQ Level 1 in Hairdressing with a satisfactory reference and equivalent literacy and preferably numeracy Key or functional skills.* A relevant Level 1 qualification with equivalent literacy and numeracy key or functional skills .* Entry is also subject to a successful interview, purchase of a salon uniform, equipment and text book.* Successful Completion of a short BSKB test
Assessment
* By practical assessments, short written tests, oral questioning, projects and completion of a portfolio of NVQ2 unit achievement evidence.
Progression
* NVQ2 Year 2 for Course Completion* Progression to NVQ3
