Teaching English (Literacy CPD) in the Lifelong Learning Sector

Entry Requirements

  • You must be teaching Literacy at 2 different levels in a Skills for Life area for at least 75hrs during the academic year.
  • Evidence of working at Level 3 or above in Literacy.
Entry is subject to a successful interview.

Content

University of Bedfordshire LogoThis course is offered in association with the University of Bedfordshire.

This course consists of 3 modules. The first module is Literacy Learners, Theories and Frameworks which counts as 30 credits towards your final qualification. This module includes a 3,000 word Case Study of a learner and a Discourse Analysis including a Textual Analysis (2000 words) and a Spoken Analysis (1000 words). The other two units are Literacy Learning and Teaching and Literacy Resources, which both count as 15 credits.

Progression

Learners can progress to the final modules of the BA (Hons) in Lifelong Learning once they have passed the Cert Ed/PGCE and completed 120 credits from the Level 5 Diplomas.
