An individual programme will be designed which will allow you to progress at your own pace.

The aims of the programme are to enable learners to:

  • Continue their education
  • Take responsibility
  • Make informed choices

There will be opportunities to:

  • Develop self-awareness and maturity
  • Build on existing skills and learn new ones
  • Increase independence and social skills
  • Improve communication skills
  • Make choices and accept responsibility
  • Gain college and other nationally recognised accreditation, plus recognition for your achievements

Built into the programme are weekly tutorials, IT, literacy and communication, numeracy, health issues, independent living, art and craft, personal development, confidence within the community, leisure activities and current affairs. Learners may have the opportunity of trying out a variety of vocational subject areas, to develop career options.

During the programme some learners may also have the opportunity to work towards a vocational qualification option. You will work towards qualifications in cookery, communication and life skills via the Essential Skills Award and the City & Guilds 3340 Certificate in Food Studies.  Learners will also work towards a variety of college certificates.

 Additional Information

 

Learner support assistants throughout the day support the learners.  Free college transport is usually provided for learners under 19 years of age depending on learner abilities and locality.  Close contact is kept with parents, carers, Social Services, etc and all are involved in making plans for the learners.

Entry Requirements:

This programme is designed for post-16 learners with moderate to severe learning difficulties. We offer places on the programme after discussions with you, your school and other people linked with your education and development.

Progression
