What will I study?

This course is for those who want to learn initial counselling skills to help and support others, either in the voluntary sector or in an employed capacity. It will not teach you to be a counsellor, but it may help you to decide whether or not you want to train as one.

Level 2 CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Skills (Subject to interview)

Is there anything else I need to know when considering this course?

This qualification is not suitable for those who are currently in a state of severe emotional difficulty and/or severe psychological confusion. The course involves some personal disclosure and associated personal developmental activities. In some circumstances the tutor may ask learners to withdraw from the course and seek therapeutic or medical advice.

Please be aware that introductory courses involve a small amount of weekly typed written work. You will also have access to online resources.
Therefore you will need a computer/laptop or you may access college computer facilities outside of lesson times if you do not have your own.
