NVQs in the Workplace
NVQs are qualifications that are delivered in the workplace, meaning employees may not need to be given time off to attend college. Assessors work alongside employees, assessing their competence against a range of national standards. Tresham is an approved Train to Gain provider, so may be able to provide this training free of charge. The NVQs we offer are:
Business and Administration Levels 2, 3 and 4
A work based competence qualification designed to develop administration skills. The programme is designed for those working in an office environment in roles such as receptionist, administrator, contact centre operator (level 2) through to supervisory learners involved in administration functions within a business.
Business Improvement Techniques at Levels 2 and 3
The value of those able to effectively and clearly identify opportunities to improve efficiency within the engineering manufacturing sector has never been higher. These awards promote the application of a range of principles associated with best practice in current manufacturing and modern management techniques, such as Six Sigma Metrics.
Children's Care, Learning and Development at Level 2
Level 2 Children's Care, Learning and Development is the minimum qualification for working with children. It is suitable for mature students who wish to work in a nursery, playgroup, crèche or school setting. This qualification will enable students to progress to level 3 (supervisory level).
Cleaning and Support Services at Level 2
Covering the essential in cleaning services such as ensuring actions reduce risk to health and safety, promoting and maintaining service delivery, supporting the work of a team, develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers and appropriate cleaning and waste actions.
Customer Service at Levels 2 and 3
These qualifications are suitable for anyone who provides services to either internal or external customers as well as those individuals employed in specific customer service roles. Units cover subjects such as developing and maintaining relationships, and monitoring and solving problems.
Food & Drink Manufacturing at Levels 2 and 3
These qualifications are suitable for all those involved in the manufacturing of food and drink products. Units cover all aspects of food and drink hygiene, controlling production processes and maintaining quality.
Health and Social Care at Level 2
This qualification is for Health Care Assistants, Home Care Assistants and Care Workers in any capacity involved in the day to day care of individuals.
Learning and Development at Levels 3, 4 and 5
Level 3 suits those who deal with complex training issues involving supervisory responsibilities. Candidates must hold a relevant qualification and experience in the area that they wish to deliver. Level 4 suits those who deal with complex training issues and have specialist or technical expertise. Candidates must manage the contribution of other people to the learning process. The V1 Quality Assurance Award maybe achieved as part of this qualification.
Management at Levels 3, 4 and 5
The ILM NVQs in Management are designed for first line and
middle management who have decision-making responsibilities within defined
limits; as well as wider responsibility for people and their performance. The
NVQs assess learners' knowledge and understanding key management activities.
Painting & Decorating, Wood & Trowel Occupations at Levels 1, 2 and 3
These trade occupational areas can be assessed on site in the workplace and are suitable for anyone employed within the construction industry who wishes to gain accreditation. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their skills in one of these areas to achieve the Level 1 or 2 Certificate. Candidates from other occupational areas may also be considered for an NVQ based upon assessment of their occupational skills in the workplace. These include plumbing, heating and ventilation and electrical installation.
Performing Engineering Operations at Level 2
This qualification assesses the candidates' skills, focussing on areas such as health and safety, mechanical engineering, fabrication welding, maintenance and or fitting.
Performing Manufacturing Operations at Levels 1 and 2
Level 1 of this qualification assesses basic manufacturing operation skills and also focuses on contributing to the effectiveness of Health & Safety practice in the workplace. Candidates wishing to study at Level 2 should be able to demonstrate their skills in areas such as organisation of their own work within the workplace.
Team Leading at Level 2
Level 2 in Team Leading is for practicing team leaders whose work involves the application of knowledge and skills in a significant range of varied work activities. The candidate must have some degree of personal autonomy and responsibility, and collaborate with others through membership of a team.
Warehousing, Storage and Distribution at Levels 2 and 3
Qualifications at Level 2 cover the skills that are required across the industry. Whilst undertaking the programmes, delegates will also focus on areas such as storage and the handling of goods and materials. The award at Level 3 focuses on the management of storage and distribution systems and also allows delegates to develop both people and resource management skills.
