Student Charter


We want your time at Tresham to be one of the most productive, valuable and rewarding periods of your life.

Learners have helped us draw up this Charter to make sure that learners and staff work together to create an enjoyable learning experience in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

At Tresham learners can expect:

  • To be fairly treated and free from harassment
  • To have a high quality and learning experience
  • Access to staff who have appropriate qualifications, experience and training
  • A safe and stimulating learning environment
  • An induction to the College and to your programme of study
  • Access to information and advice on jobs and higher education
  • An opportunity to take part in Tresham's Student Union activities and access to NUS benefits
  • Accurate and timely information about examination or assessment arrangements
  • Opportunities to express your views about your programme or about the services they receive
  • A tutor who will review their progress with them and help them to record their achievements
  • Access to confidential guidance and support

Learners are expected to:

  • Be considerate and respectful to fellow learners and staff
  • Respect the college environment and abide by health and safety rules
  • Accept responsibility for their own learning programme
  • Attend regularly and punctually account for all absence
  • Complete and hand work in on time
  • Meet assessment and examination requirements
  • Ask for assistance and guidance from staff
  • Abide by the College's policies and code of conduct
  • Abide by the College's Acceptable Computer Use Agreement

If you are under 18 your parent/guardian can expect:

  • Information concerning your programme and the range of support services available
  • Contact with a personal tutor
  • An invitation to parents' evenings to discuss your progress and future options
  • Immediate notification of any disciplinary concerns
  • Progress reviews which will be posted to them

Your employer can expect:

  • An opportunity to express their views about the programme
  • An opportunity to contribute to the College's planning and development
  • Information about employee progress on request
  • An opportunity to express their views about their employees' programme
